Expresiones super útiles para el Trabajo

El mundo del inglés corporativo está lleno de expresiones idiomáticas, saberlas hace que tengamos otras herramientas para comunicarnos con mayor espontaneidad.

¿Querés saber algunas y cuándo usarlas?

1-Cuando necesitamos tiempo para dar una respuesta podemos decir:

• I’m just trying to think through this issue; could you give me some time?

Situation: Estas en una reunión y tu team leader propone una estrategia diferente de marketing. Te das cuenta que necesitas considerar la propuesta. Entonces podes decir:

“That’s a great idea; Let me think through the best way to implement it.”

2- Cuando necesitamos clarificar o informar algo, estas frases son super comunes.

• I wanted to clear this with you first

• Let me bring you up to speed with the project ( to update sb)

• Please keep me in the loop ( keep me informed)

• Fill sb in (to tell someone something they do not know, especially something that happened when they were not there) Eg.They filled me in on what had been agreed at the meeting.

Situation: Un miembro de tu equipo estuvo de vacaciones y se perdió algunos cambios del proyecto. Le podes decir “ Don’t worry, I can bring you up to speed on the latest changes”

3- Si querés expresar cuidado o consideración en ciertos asuntos podemos usar:

• Just to be on the safe side

• Let’s not put all of one’s eggs in one basket

Situation: Tu jefe consiguió un cliente super importante y decidió que todo el equipo dedique tiempo full time a este proyecto. Le podés sugerir algo así como:

“ Just to be on the safe side I would not devote all our time and energy to this client”

“ I would offer the same service to other clients as well. I wouldn’t put all our eggs in one basket”

4- Cuando hacés “brainstorming “ con tu equipo podés usar algunas expresiones para alentar la participación. Podes decir:

• Do you want to take a stab at it( Do you want to try )?

• Any ideas off the top of your head( without much thinking)?

• It’s a long shot but it might work. ( it’s a bit far-fetched / not very likely to work)

Situation: Tu team leader quiere generar una nueva estrategia de venta y necesita de algunas ideas. Podés decir algo como “ Just off the top of my head, we could ……….” Or I know it’s a long shot but we could take a stab at it”

¿Es necesario que use estas frases?

No, pero sí es necesario conocerlas para poder entender lo que nos dicen ya que se usan a diario. También, a medida que nos capacitamos en el idioma, vamos adquiriendo la confianza necesaria para incorporarlas también a nuestro léxico.
